Taste of Fayette crowns champs

A popular annual food festival was held in Fayetteville recently, and three restaurants won titles.

Thousands of people attended the 2019 Taste of Fayette, where they enjoyed sampling the dishes provided by over a dozen local restaurants.

The foodie festival took place on the Historic Fayette County Courthouse lawn, the second year in a row that this has been the venue for the fun. Prior to that, it took place at Stonewall Village/Jack Day Park, which is across the street.

Many attendees said they liked the new location, especially because oak trees hundreds of years old provided some much-needed shade and relief from the heat.

Fayetteville's Downtown Development Director, Brian Wismer, said the festival was fantastic, and expressed his gratitude for all those who worked to make it possible. The event was organized by Main Street Fayetteville, volunteers helped keep everything running, and the vendors who took part were also instrumental in the event's success. Wismer estimated the crowd at several thousand people, but admitted counting attendees for a period of four hours was almost impossible.

A panel of judges awarded three different prizes. “Most Amazing Booth” went to Tour de Italy of Fayettevlle, while another Fayetteville shop, Orleans Brews & Beignets, was named “Finest Treat.” The third award, “Finest Taste,” went to the Fusion Chefs of Fayetteville.
