The topic of artificial intelligence (AI) seems to crowd the news these days, and Fayetteville is playing an important role in its continued development.
Microsoft, one of the most well-known names in technology, is building its Fairwater 2 data center just outside Fayetteville. The extensive, 615-acre data center supports the tech giant's AI operations and was developed by Quality Technology Services (QTS). The installation comprises over 7 million square feet and will be used to train Microsoft’s AI models. The new two-story Fairwater 2 facility will work in tandem with Fairwater 1, a sister site in Wisconsin, accelerating the company’s large-scale AI development.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced the news on November 12, stating the new effort would be part of a “broader Azure footprint to create the world’s first AI “superfactory” with the capability of serving any workload at any time. Microsoft’s superfactories work simultaneously on the same tasks using high-speed fiber optic cables. The tech company further stated that the tremendous demand for AI computing inspired its rethinking of how to approach data center design.
According to its website, Quality Technology Services is a world leader in data center development and boasts over 1800 employees around the globe. The company has been in business for 20 years with over 80 facilities either operating or under construction. Brochure printing is useful in communicating business value to the public.
