Stars fall on Fayetteville

Movie buffs in Fayetteville had a great time recently, when stars began arriving in the city to start filming the next “Avengers” films.

The movies are being made at Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Fayetteville. The complex comprises 18 sound stages that range in size from 15,000 to 40,000 square feet, production support facilities, offices, and a workshop totaling 400,000 square feet, a backlot that offers rivers and forests, and a full post-production facility.

Among the cast members spotted were Karen Gillan, who was completely made up in blue prosthetics for her role as Nebula; and Mark Ruffalo, who was apparently wearing a motion capture suit, which will be used to bring his portrayal of The Hulk to life. Paul Rudd, Jeremy Renner, and Don Cheadle were also seen at the studio.

Gillan explained that the next two movies in the Avengers series, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers 4’, will be filmed simultaneously. This technique has been used before, notably by Peter Jackson, who shot principal photography for all three films in his ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy at the same time, then brought cast members back for pick-ups for each movie. Gillan also said they have been filming since January, and do not anticipate wrapping until December.
