The next movie featuring Thor, the Norse god with the enchanted hammer, is set to be filmed in Fayetteville.
The film, which is based on a Marvel comic book and stars Chris Hemsworth, will start shooting later this year.
Hemsworth has played this character in a number of films, including two movies in the ‘Avengers’ series, and two others that are not part of that group: ‘Thor’ and ‘Thor: The Dark World’. The new film continues the Thor series and is titled ‘Thor: Ragnarok’.
Filming is slated for the Pinewood Studios complex in Fayetteville, which is part of the famous Pinewood Studios Group based in the United Kingdom. Some of the most successful television and film products ever made have been filmed at Pinewood, including the James Bond films.
The first film made at the Fayetteville location was ‘Ant-Man’, which was released in July 2015. Also this summer, ‘Captain America: Civil War’ was shot in Fayetteville, and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’ could begin shooting as early as February 2016. The studio has 11 sound stages, and works with the Georgia Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Office when it needs to find locations for filming.
Studio officials might consider working with a flyer printing company to devise a mailer listing locations where they plan to film, and suggesting alternate routes for drivers in the area.
