Fayetteville wants to hear from its residents

The Fayetteville Planning and Zoning Department has already taken views from some residents about its Master Path Plan, but is giving those who did not participate another chance to share their opinions.

The Main Street Market event was held in late October, and officials accepted public input at that time. Now, since some people were unable to participate, city representatives will be at the upcoming Free Movie under the Stars event. At that time, they will share information about Fayetteville’s Master Path Plan, and invite attendees to finish a short survey. Organizers of events like this could use poster printing to create Signs so people know where the take the survey.

LaShawn Gardiner, Fayetteville’s city planner, noted that Fayette County is developing a study of paths throughout the county, so the time is perfect for the city to undertake one as well. Gardiner added that Fayetteville has several miles of paths and sidewalks already, so officials want to see how those will connect, as well as building new paths that will join up with any built by the county.

Gardiner went on to say that in the city, they would like to connect the Historic Downtown District to the Fayette Pavilion that is being developed to the north, as well as other developments on the west, such as Pinewood Forest, Piedmont Fayette Hospital, and Togwatee Village.

The Movie under the Stars evening is set for 5:30 pm on November 16, on the Old Courthouse Lawn.
