The City of Fayetteville recently announced it is holding a photography contest to promote the arts, encourage people to visit the community, and create an exhibit for the lobby of City Hall.
Contest organizers say the city has lots of gifted photographers, as well as being filled with natural and architectural beauty.
The rules are fairly simple: the photographs have to be originals, and must be sent in by the owner, though that person does not have to live in Fayetteville. In addition, they must be high-resolution photos of 3.2 megapixels at a minimum, and have to feature subjects located within the city limits of Fayetteville. In addition, the email must contain the name of the photographer, address and phone number, and a brief description of the photo. Only one entry per person will be accepted, and city employees are not eligible to take part.
Starting in mid-April, 11 photos will be displayed in the lobby of the Fayetteville City Hall for the next year. One of those chosen will be declared the winner of the Blue Ribbon.
Organizers have set up an email address especially for the contest, because they anticipate a huge response. Photographers should send their work to photos@fayetteville-ga.gov. The deadline for submissions is next Tuesday, March 13.
In situations like this, officials might work with a flyer printing company to create a mailer for residents, announcing the contest.
