People who love roses and want to learn more about caring for them are invited to attend a fun and educational event taking place very soon.
The South Metro Rose Society, which is affiliated with the American Rose Society (ARS), has scheduled its annual pruning clinic.
The American Rose Society was founded in 1892, and is the oldest horticultural society in the United States devoted to the enjoyment and cultivation of a single plant—the rose. The ARS provides its members with publications, continuing research, and educational programs, and boasts more than 300 local societies throughout its network.
There is no charge for enthusiasts to attend the clinic, and they will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in pruning roses, and will be able to ask Consulting Rosarians questions. Attendees are asked to bring their own pruners and heavy-duty garden gloves, if possible.
The event, known as the Community Rose Pruning Clinic, is scheduled for March 5 at 10:00 am. If it rains, the clinic will be postponed for slightly more than 24 hours, taking place at 1:00 pm on March 6. In either case, the pruning clinic will take place in the Heritage Bank's rose garden in Fayetteville, at 440 North Jeff Davis Drive.
Since this is an outdoor event, organizers might consider creating beautiful Banners, perhaps with roses on them, to display as part of the festivities.
