Fayetteville receives funding for new technology

A grant has been awarded bey the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety to the City of Fayetteville Police Department.

The $20,000 funds will be used by the department to purchase additional technological resources to enable the department to improve traffic safety in the city. Laptop computers, printers, and other computer hardware and software will be purchased to help officers better respond to investigations of collisions.

Director of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, Allen Poole, said that this grant is being awarded to help prevent fatal traffic crashes. He said that his department is working to develop and implement enforcement campaigns, educational messages, and other safety initiatives, the goal of which is to reduce these types of crashes.

Scott Gray, Police Chief of the Fayetteville Police Department, expressed his honor on behalf of the department to receive this technology grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. He said that these funds will provide high-quality up-to-date technology that the officers need to investigate collisions effectively which can in the long term provide safer roads and highways for residents.
