Fayetteville opens survey to everyone

Last fall, Fayetteville mailed approximately 1,600 National Citizen Survey Forms to residents. The questionnaire is designed to compare Fayetteville with its peer cities to create a baseline. The survey has now been put online, so that everyone has access to it.

Those residents who received a survey form on paper are asked to fill out and return it, rather than going online. Those who would like to take the survey via the internet can find it here.

There is a distinction between the surveys that were mailed and the one now available online—the paper surveys were sent only to those who could be verified as residents of the City of Fayetteville. When these surveys are compared to those of other cities, the residents' responses will be weighted accordingly. Since surveys like this need the largest response to increase their validity, officials might follow up their first mailer with a second, using official Letterheads, encouraging residents to return their surveys.

However, Ray Gibson, Fayetteville's city manager, said officials wanted to hear from everybody, whether on paper or online. He noted that residents have been both supportive and cooperative in giving their input as the city develops its new Downtown Redevelopment Plan, and the Comprehensive Plan. The latest survey will allow residents to share their concerns and pinpoint areas where they believe the city can improve its services. Their responses will help officials to make certain services are provided efficiently and effectively.
