The Georgia Film Academy, which is located in Fayetteville on the Pinewood Production Center's property, opened a full-featured soundstage on April 26.
The opening is a welcome event for executives in the local film industry, who believe there will be a greatly increased demand for facilities over the next five years, and that up to 5,000 jobs could be generated.
The new soundstage comprises 15,860 square feet, and is built to the same specifications as the two main studios on the Pinewood campus. Having the state-of-the-art facility available to their students will give them an advantage when they start looking for industry jobs, say GFA leaders.
The academy offers a two-pronged approach to studies. The program begins with a classroom-based course of six hours, followed by 12-credit-hour studies based in the studio. There are already approximately 200 students enrolled in the academy. Students who complete the courses earn a basic certificate, or they can opt to apply the credits to a degree program in either the Technical College System of Georgia, or the state's university system.
Academy executives might want to consider working with a brochure printing company to create a booklet that describes the courses offered in detail, and how they help prepare students for a career in the competitive film industry.
