Fayetteville mom likely to get family support

This weekend sees the Boston Marathon take place, and with one Fayetteville mom joining the masses, printing companies in the area are likely to have been printing up Banners urging her on to victory.

It is not the first time Lora Lewis has taken on the grueling 26 miles, nor is she a beginner to the world of extreme athletics.

Indeed, she has not only ran Boston once before, but is also the director of local not-for-profit group Girls on the run and running coach for the men's 10 miler team at Fort Bragg.

Lora has also competed in three IronMan triathlons, and two Triathlon World Championships.

As if such efforts were not enough, Lora is also mom to seven kids. Unsurprisingly, they are all runners.

Peace and quiet are clearly not on this impressive lady's agenda, with a typical day starting at 05:00, where she meets up with running groups to spur them on. After several hours of her own training too, it is on with the day.

Next comes the truly rewarding work with Girls on the Run. A venture to help local girls get and stay fit through life, it takes up a lot of her time.

When asked, Lora suggests she is targeting a 'modest' time:

"My goal is a modest 4:15 because I have had two major injury issues since last summer, and haven't been able to train as needed for a fast race..."

This 'slow' time is impressive enough but, if her seven kids and many other supporters on the route have done their banner printing well, she might just be able to break the four hour mark.
