Fayetteville hospital earns stellar safety rating
A national nonprofit patient safety watchdog group named The Leapfrog Group has awarded Piedmont Fayette Hospital in Fayetteville with its highest Hospital Safety Grade.
Based on more than 30 performance metrics that represent mistakes, mishaps, infections and injuries, as well as the mechanisms hospitals have implemented to prevent them, Leapfrog grades general hospitals nationwide from A to F. Piedmont Fayette Hospital has earned an A grade.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital rating system in the US that focuses exclusively on avoidable medical mistakes. These include infections and injuries that claim the lives of almost 500 patients every day. The program is open to the public, completely transparent, and subject to peer review. Twice a year, in the fall and spring, the grades are changed. Printing services can be used to make large printouts for display.
Leah Binder, the CEO and president of The Leapfrog Group, commented to say:
The hospital put out a statement expressing how happy they are to receive recognition for their work because it gives patients and their families confidence that they will receive safe, effective, and patient-centered treatment.
