Fayetteville gives approval to three major projects

On December 17, members of Fayetteville's city council okayed three major projects. The projects are an industrial park, a senior living facility, and a highway project that will connect Highway 92 North with two other streets.

The industrial park will comprise 19 acres, and is to be constructed along Promenade Parkway, on both sides of the thoroughfare, near The Home Depot at Fayette Pavilion. The property's new zoning designation is M-1 (light manufacturing), whereas previously it was zoned as C-3 (commercial).

The senior housing will be sited on two tracts of land comprising 24 acres. There will be 168 units available, and the housing will be located on Highway 54 east of the Burch Road intersection with Gingercake Road. Again, rezoning was required; one of the two tracts was zoned as single family residential (R-40), and the second commercial (C-3). Together, they are now zoned as medical office (MO).

The highway project is to begin an already-approved realignment project of Highway 92. The construction will include creating a roundabout to merge Hood Avenue and Highway 92 North, so that the two will share only one intersection with Highway 85.

Engineers on the project say the first six months will be devoted to realigning sewer and water infrastructure, and erecting new power poles.

In order to keep residents updated, officials could work with a flyer printing company to create mailers detailing road closures and suggestions of alternate routes.
