Fayetteville considers annexation measure

Fayetteville is considering an agreement with Fayette County that would allow it to annex property just south of the city.

According to The Citizen, the parcel is west of Jimmy Mayfield Boulevard, a short distance east of Georgia Highway 85 South/Ingles Markets, and to the south of the Georgia Highway 92 Extension.

The proposal, which was made by the Atlanta-based developer Rolader and Sheffield Fayette Ventures, requests that the city should annex and/or rezone this property. Rolader and Sheffield wants to have 29.63 acres that are currently zoned as R-40, two-acre lots for residential uses, both annexed and rezoned. The company also wants additional property, which is already inside the city limits, rezoned only. This acreage includes 32.53 acres that are zoned C-3, for commercial use; and another 36.4 acres that are currently either OS (open space), or R-THC, which stands for residential townhouse/condominium.

The issue has yet to be resolved, with Ed Johnson, the mayor of Fayetteville, objecting to the number of requests the city is getting for what he called “high-density multifamily dwellings.” He went on to say he did not think Fayetteville could handle such a request, and asked the County Commission to object to the measure. Discussions are ongoing.

Agencies like these can benefit by working with flyer printing companies, which can create materials to inform people about various issues of importance in their communities.
