Earth Day celebration planned in Fayetteville

Earth Day is 50 years old this year, and a celebration will mark this anniversary in Fayetteville.

The Southern Conservation Trust will be hosting the 13th Annual Fayette County Earth Day Festival. There will be educational activities suitable for all members of the family, hikes, other fun events, and local vendors on hand with unique items.

In addition, the local shelters will be at the event with animals ready to be adopted into their forever homes. The day is a chance for Fayetteville residents to gather to support a healthy environment.

Line Creek Brewing is also getting involved by launching a new beer for spring. Called #ConserveGeorgia, the beer is brewed using local pecans sourced from Sunnyland Farms, located in Albany, Georgia. Sunnyland has partnered with the Southern Conservation Trust (SCT), which will receive $1 for each six-pack sold. A case of beer will conserve an acre of land.

The Southern Conservation Trust provides education about the environment, shelters wildlife, safeguards rivers, saves forests, and protects green space, and makes sure communities everywhere in Georgia have access to nature.

The Fayette County Earth Day Festival will take place from 8:00 am until 12:00 noon on April 18, at 305 Beauregard Boulevard in Fayetteville. The location is a private, historic home that was built in 1892. Banner printing can be used to provide decorations for events like this, since they are sturdy and stand up to outdoor use.
