Rea Ventures Group has aspirations of bringing an apartment building to Fayetteville, and in order to familiarize residents with the project, which is the densest residential development in the city's history, Rea is planning an informational open house.
The building would have 80 housing units, and would be located on a 4.7-acre site at the corner of Lafayette Avenue and Glynn Street, downtown.
The apartments would comprise a so-called “mixed-use” project, with commercial spaces on the building's ground floor. The developer has issued a statement saying that the rents on some units would be offered at market rates, while others would be capped at a price below the current market, in order to provide affordable housing.
Rea plans one-, two- and three-bedroom units. The first would be about 750 square feet, the second 1,055 square feet, and the third, 1,225 square feet, with rents ranging from $640 to $1,200 per month. According to Rea Ventures, they would seek an ‘EarthCraft Communities certification’, which is similar to the LEED certification given to “green” buildings.
The apartments are designed to attract “workforce” members such as firefighters, police officers, teachers, and retail employees.
The informational event will take place next Wednesday, April 20, at the Old Train Depot. The depot is on East Lanier Avenue, under Fayetteville's water tower. Rea might consider creating Brochures, complete with artists' renderings, to help residents understand the concept.
