The Honest Tea Company conducted an unscientific yet thought provoking test of honesty in which Atlanta residents scored highest.
To test the honesty of residents in 27 of the nation’s largest cities, the Honest Tea Company set up unmanned stands with bottles of tea priced at a dollar each. Instructions were to put a dollar in the box and then help oneself to a bottle of tea.
The results showed Atlanta in a good light, and the city might want to find a way of including that information, unscientific as it may be, the next time it sends promotional materials to the printing company.
Atlanta scored 100% on the honesty test, while D.C./Bethesda came in at 17th with a 94% honesty rate. Last place belonged to Providence, Rhode Island with a score of 83%.
Washington D.C., might be less keen for brochure printers to broadcast its results. According to the Bethesda-based tea company, the capital was the only one of the 27 cities where someone actually took money out of the box. Honesty among Washington D.C. residents may be increasing though, since last year the nation’s capital placed last.
Overall, 94% of people showed themselves to be honest. Other conclusions garnered from the test included the suggestion that brown-haired people appeared to be the most honest, and bald individuals the least.
