The Fernbank Museum of Natural History in Atlanta has several special exhibits this spring that are both educational and informative.
The four exhibits explore the subjects of microbes, birdhouses, water, and global food.
The Secret World Inside You will be on view until May 6. It shows how the bacteria and microbes inside the body keep us healthy.
It offers videos, interactive displays, and games to teach adults and children about the tiny microbes in the body.
Meditations on Water will be shown from through June 3. This display will have the nature photos of David Foster, who captures the mystery, energy, and use of water in our daily lives.
The Spring Birdhouses exhibit began this month and runs until June 10. This will feature natural birdhouses made by members of the Atlanta community.
The contest for bird houses is open to adults, art groups, and children, although those under 16 must be registered by a parent. The staff will select 25 birdhouses for the exhibit and prizes will be given for the three best ones.
Lastly, Food: Our Global Kitchen will begin June 9 and end on August 26. A demonstration kitchen will have special demonstrations, cooking classes, and interactive exhibits. It will explore food history and its effect on other cultures.
Admission to the museum includes these special exhibits. The museum also has a gift store and the Fernbank Cafe.
