Park Conservancy to benefit from Atlanta festival
Next month’s Summer Shade Festival celebrates Atlanta’s Grant Park, the oldest public park in the city. Named for philanthropist Lemuel P. Grant, the park first opened in 1883. Grant donated the land to the city under the premise that it be available for use by all Atlantans, regardless of race.
The Grant Park Conservancy (GPC) presents the two-day free outdoor festival each year in support of the maintenance and restoration of the 100-acre green space. The GPC works, together with Atlanta Parks and Recreation, to preserve the historic city park for use by locals and visitors. The GPC is a non-profit organization supported by members, sponsors, as well as individual and corporate donors.
Artists, food vendors and a range of musical performers will gather for the 2025 festival and there will also be a special area devoted to kids’ activities. In addition, the original organizers of the festival continue to present an annual 5 km run as part of the events. The Adam's Realtors Run for the Park has raised over $100,000 since 2003.
Festival exhibitors pay fees to display their crafts, antiques, memorabilia and other items for sale. Vendors who take part in this type of special event often use printing services for their promotional materials.
The 23rd Summer Shade Festival will be held August 23 and 24, 2025 at Grant Park.
