What's Happening in Atlanta, GA…

Nissan matching rebate for charging points

Atlanta, will be getting a boost to its electric vehicle (EV) sales thanks to a collaboration between Nissan and Georgia Power aimed at encouraging workplace charging stations.

Already living in the country’s leading market for the Nissan LEAF and the second highest market in overall (EV) sales, Atlanta drivers will have even more reason to conduct an all-electric commute. Nissan and Georgia Power will provide a $1,000 rebate per Level 2, 240-volt charger installed by an employer at their place of business.

Half of this money will come from each organization, with Georgia Power having had its $500 rebate program in place since last year. Only companies in the Georgia Power service area with at least 100 employees qualify. Nissan will match Georgia Powers $500 only through June 30 this year.

Brenda Jones, a Nissan executive, explained the reasoning for the company’s decision to match the power company’s rebate, saying:

"While most EV drivers plug in at home overnight, workplace charging enhances the LEAF ownership experience and expands the number of miles a LEAF driver can go on power produced here in Georgia."

Assisted by printing companies, Georgia Power and Nissan can increase interest in the LEAF as well as other EVs by letting the public know that charging stations are becoming more prevalent. This is not the first time Nissan has subsidized charging stations in Atlanta.
