FamilyFun Magazine has come out with its third annual Travel Awards, and the Georgia Aquarium here in Atlanta made it into the Top 5 Animal Attractions.
Appearing in its April issue, FamilyFun Magazine’s Travel Awards are selected by the families who have experienced them. Attaining a position on one of the lists is considered a great advertisement for a city and a boon to all of its family friendly attractions.
The Georgia Aquarium came in at No. 4 among best Animal Attractions in the country, with the top two spots going to zoos. Only one aquarium was ranked higher than Atlanta’s: the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California.
The 10-million-gallon Atlanta attraction hosts a large and diverse collection of aquatic animals. Using a variety of mediums, including postcard printing services, the Georgia Aquarium promotes the conservation of aquatic biodiversity across the globe.
The Travel Awards are unique in that they reflect the experiences of real families. Families traveling with children ranging from ages 3 to 12 are surveyed regarding any of the over 460 vacation destinations located within their own region: Northeast, West, Midwest, or South. More than 2,000 responded and ranked their region’s destinations across five categories.
Recently, the Georgia Aquarium has been the recipient of other honors; USA Today listed it as the Best North American Aquarium and in TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards, it is was deemed the third best aquarium on the planet.
