Atlanta plays host to the southeast United States’ largest anime convention in December.
Anime Weekend Atlanta (AWA) is a four-day gathering of enthusiasts who can participate in music and costume contests, gaming, karaoke, fashion shows, concerts, and workshops. Major conventions such as this often rely on brochure printing to get the word out.
Anime is a Japanese animation and art style that encompasses many genres, ranging from cartoons, comics, and Books to video games. It combines cinematography, diverse graphic art and characters, often with predominantly large eyes. There are more than 400 anime production companies, including a number of major studios. The increasing popularity of the artform has led to worldwide conventions where fans compete in cosplay or costume contests and other related group activities.
The convention embraces anime idols, a well-loved hobby, especially among teens who mimic their favorite characters. At the AWA, experienced and beginner singers and dancers can compete in the Starlight Idol Festival and on other stages, where they can show off their costumes and talent.
The convention provides attendees with several amenities to enhance their experience. For those in costume, there will be a repair center where they have access to sewing necessities, glue, Tape, and other supplies. There will also be changing rooms and a new quiet lounge space for energizing between events.
The Anime Weekend Atlanta will take place from Thursday, December 12 to Monday, December 16 in Building C at the Georgia World Congress Center.
