This summer, the Wren’s Nest will be continuing weekly tours throughout the historic Atlanta building.
The Wren’s Nest was first built in the 1870s as a farmhouse. From 1881 to 1908, the house was owned by author and journalist Joel Chandler Harris, who had it renovated to transform it into a Queen Anne Victorian-style home. In 1913, the Wren’s Nest officially became a museum.
During house tours of the Wren’s Nest, visitors will be able to explore each room of the historic Atlanta building and learn more about the life and works of Harris. An hour of live storytelling will be included in each four-hour tour. Professional storytellers Akbar Imhotep, Esther Culver, Gwendolyn J. Napier, and Chetter Galloway will be narrating the stories. Flyer printing is a common method that the hosts of related events use to distribute papers outlining important tour details for anyone who is interested in joining.
To see the Wren’s Nest up close and explore inside, guests may register in advance to reserve their places. Adult tickets cost $15.64, while children’s tickets are priced at $11.02, and senior and student tickets are a slightly higher $13.33.
The weekly house tours at The Wren’s Nest are set to take place each Saturday during the month of August between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm, meaning the first one is on August 6.
