Atlanta Sports City, planned as part of the Stonecrest Mall expansion, recently added the Emory Healthcare Facility to the complex and will be building a facility on the site.
An entrance will be built to connect Stonecrest Mall near Atlanta to the soccer fields in the Sports Complex. This complex will have 250,000 square feet of retail stores and restaurants added to revive business along Interstate 20.
The medical facility will be called the Emory Sports Medicine Center. It will provide medical sports training and rehab services to patients. Construction on the expansion to Stonecrest Mall began this fall.
Atlanta Sports City will have a stadium with 15,000 seats for sports fans, along with 22 soccer fields, seven fields for baseball, and five courts for basketball games.
It combines shopping and restaurants with the sports complex in an effort to attract millions of tourists every year. The developer is trying to design the complex to be seamless and easy to use.
The Emory Sports Medicine Center has sports trainers, doctors, and MRI scanners. The company is investing $10m into the 10,000 square foot facility.
The new mall entrance will attract several new restaurants, entertainment, and possibly an aquarium or trampoline park.
