Historic Olmsted Linear Park is the scenic location for The Festival on Ponce, a celebration of Atlanta's arts and crafts. More than 125 displays of original fine art and crafts and other unique Forms of art will be showcased at the event.
The park is the longest group of linear parks in Atlanta and has been protected and improved thanks to a $10 million capital investment by the Olmstead Linear Park Alliance (OLPA) which installed 6000 linear feet of walking paths and added 2600 trees and shrubs. Plus, 11 miles of utility lines around the park are now buried underground. The park includes 45 acres of greenspace and old growth forest with six scenic regions and an abundance of wildlife.
OLPA is a public-private partnership created more than 25 years ago to financially support the park, its ongoing development and maintenance.
Frederick Law Olmsted was one of America's best known landscape architects, and OLPA's mandate not only serves to educate the public about the park, but also to uphold Olmstead's work of creating thoughtful, well-designed areas. He was first commissioned to design the park in 1893, but the plan wasn't completed until 1905, two years after his death.
Festival on Ponce has paid display spots available for interested vendors. The festival only provides the ground space, so exhibitors are required to have their own tents and displays. Poster printing services can assist merchants at events like this in promoting their business and products.
The festival will be held rain or shine on October 5, 2024, 10 am to 5 pm and October 6, 11 am to 5 pm at the Olmstead Linear Park on Ponce de Leon Avenue. Attendance is free.
