Bizet and Tchaikovsky, two of music's most iconic composers, will be under the spotlight in an evening under the direction of music director Nathalie Stutzmann.
Only the second woman in history to conduct a major American orchestra, Stutzmann has assumed the role of music director of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra this season. With over 80 records under her belt and several accolades, she is also one of the most respected contraltos. Her most recent album, Contralto, which was released in January 2021, received Scherzo's "Exceptional" seal, the Diamant d'Or from Opera Magazine, and the Classique d'Or from radio RTL. She is a Warner Classics/Erato exclusive recording artist.
The French government conferred the highest honors on Nathalie – the "Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur" and the "Commandeur dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres."
Those interested in attending will be entertained by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra as it plays selections from Bizet’s Carmen and Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. Bizet's C-major Symphony will serve as the concert's opening piece.
