Matanzas 5000 marks 46th year in Historic St. Augustine

The Ancient City Road Runners will host the 46th annual Matanzas 5000, a long-standing fixture in St. Augustine’s racing calendar.

The event will bring participants through one of Florida’s most recognizable historic corridors and remains a major draw for competitive runners across the region.

The certified 5K route begins near the city parking facility on West Castillo Drive and moves alongside the Matanzas River before cutting through the historic district. The course’s visibility and easy access will provide spectators with multiple vantage points for cheering and photography.

A runner expo at the Ketterlinus Gymnasium will operate ahead of the race, featuring sports equipment vendors and serving as the central station for late registration and packet pickup.

This year’s awards total $4,200 which will be distributed across multiple divisions including overall male and female winners. Top finishers in the primary category will receive $600, with tiered prizes following for second through fifth place.

Registration fees shift based on the date of purchase:
– $39.44 from July 28th to November 30th
– $44.79 from December 1st to January 16th
– $50.14 from January 17th to January 23rd
– $55.49 on race day

Many athletic events use banner printing to increase local visibility and guide participants throughout the venue and surrounding streets.

The race kicks off on Saturday, January 24th starting at 8 am at 29 West Castillo Dr, St. Augustine, Florida. Packet pickup will be available in Jacksonville and St. Augustine at designated times.
