Upcoming event will showcase sharks

Shark Con 2015 is taking place this July, and attendees will learn about sharks and ocean conservation.

There are set to be guest speakers from Discovery Channel Shark Week, and the National Geographic and elsewhere. There will be exhibits from the Florida Aquarium, Sea World, Lowry Park Zoo, and the Mote Marine Laboratory.

There will also be hands-on clinics in water sports such as paddleboard, kayaking, and surfing.

Guests can take the ride shark (similar to a bucking bull ride), learn how to dive at the Be a Diver Pool, and have their pictures taken with mermaids. For the kids, there will be coloring tables and guest appearances from the Clearwater Threshers Mascot and Aquaman. There is also the shark tooth sand dig and touch tanks.

In addition, over 80 vendors will be on hand to sell shark and marine-related merchandise, as well as art and crafts.

This should appeal to families from all over the area – including Plant City – who are interested in learning more about these marine predators. To advertise, local Print companies may be asked to provide Flyers for advertising.

Shark Con 2015 will be held at the Florida State Fairgrounds Entertainment Hall on July 11 to 12. Tickets for adults are $15 in advance or $20 at the door, and $5 for children aged 13 and under. To learn more about this event, call 941-539-0833.
