The Friends of the Plant City Police Department Foundation will organize a race in April where civilians can run with police officers.
The Catch Me If You Can 5K is a community activity where civilians can participate in a friendly competition with their local police officers. The event will feature scenarios where people can get a head start running the course and then get chased down by the police. The mayor of Plant City will also participate in the race, and those who outrun them will have a chance to raise extra money for the police department. Participants will receive post-race donuts, and all finishers will get a medal.
The Friends of the Plant City Police Department is a nonprofit organization that helps connect local law enforcement officers with the community and local business owners. The group started in 2023 and is a member of the city’s chamber of commerce. People who wish to support the nonprofit group can become volunteers and help with tasks such as raising money, communicating with the public, and making Yard Signs.
The Catch Me If You Can 5K will be held on Saturday, April 25th and will begin at 7:00 am. Those interested in the race can pay $35 to enter. Awards will be given to the top civilian competitors, and there will also be awards for the top law enforcement runners. Local organizations in charge of races like this can draw attention to their athletic events by using Signs made with banner printing.
