The first week of December will see Christmas come to Plant City, with two annual events sure to please everyone in the family.
The 16th annual Lights of Love event, which always takes place on the 1st Thursday in December, is a fundraising event for the South Florida Baptist Hospital Foundation, and is presented in conjunction with the City of Plant City.
A 30-foot Christmas tree will be decorated with lights, which were purchased by individuals, businesses, families, and organizations in honor or memory of friends or love ones. There will also be performances from local choirs and chances to have pictures taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Each light costs $25 and those who purchased them in advance will be listed in the printed program. It is likely the program will have been provided by a Plant City printing company.
The next day, the Plant City Christmas Parade will begin at 7:00 pm. This year's theme is ‘Celebrate the Season’. Applications are being accepted from those who wish to participate until Monday, November 25. The fee is $25.
Lights of Love is taking place on December 4 at McCall Park. Call 813-757-8478 to get more information about this event.
The Plant City Christmas Parade takes place Downtown on December 5. To participate, contact Tom Daramus at 813-720-5979.
