The MidFlorida Mayfaire by-the-Lake festival is taking place for two days this May. The popular event usually attracts up to 65,000 visitors each year, and is presented by the Polk Museum of Art.
There are set to be a 5K race, music and dance performances, and food and beverage vendors. There will also be children's art activities, bounce houses, and a rock climbing wall.
The main draw of this festival, however, is the more than 165 arts and crafts vendors who will be selling items such as handmade jewelry, paintings, clothing, and ceramics, all of which will make for unique and original Mother's Day gifts. The festival will finish off with a fireworks display, and visitors are encouraged to bring their own blankets and chairs for the show.
Sponsorships are available and organizers are still looking for volunteers to help with the running the event. One job of the volunteers is to distribute the event poster that has most likely been created with the help of local poster printing companies. No doubt it will be distributed all over the area, including nearby Plant City.
The Mayfaire by-the-Lake festival will be held at Lake Morton in Lakeland from May 9 to 10 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm each day. Admission is free, although there is a small charge for some activities. Call 863-688-7743 to find out more about this event or to become a volunteer.
