Plant City preschoolers to develop water safety skills

With its many lake and ocean beaches, Florida offers opportunities to enjoy fun in the water, and the Plant City YMCA has made arrangements to help preschoolers do so safely.

The facility has scheduled a workshop series that will introduce youngsters to the fun of swimming and spending time getting wet. It will run for four days, and each of the classes will be 40 minutes long.

The activity will give participants an opportunity to increase their confidence, and they will do so through interactive games and other fun. At the end of the series, kids will know what to do if they fall into water and also what steps to take should they spot someone else in trouble at a beach or pool. A YMCA-certified swim instructor will be the facilitator for each of the classes.

Swimming is an activity that can be enjoyed by almost any age, and it is never too late to learn how to hit the water safely. Stationery printers can be tasked with preparing certificates to give to each participant, indicating that they have completed a workshop, course, or other training session.

The Plant City Family YMCA has scheduled the first class in this course for Monday, August 21. It will conclude on Thursday, August 24, and each class will begin at 9:50 am.
