A Plant City area workshop will show local families ways they can bring the whole family into the kitchen to transform ingredients they can grow into an assortment of popular dishes.
The UF/IFAS Extension Gardening and Nutrition experts have planned a morning that will provide the participants with a chance to get their hands dirty while they learn how to plant and grow herbs in their own home garden. All ages are welcome, and the supplies needed will be provided.
Along with the gardening portion of the workshop, the attendees will be invited to watch a demonstration where they will see how they can transform the fruits of their labor into food the whole family can enjoy. They will also discover ideas that they can use to craft healthy and tasty snacks. Stationery printers can be called upon to supply printed recipe cards and even cookbooks to distribute during an event like this.
This learning opportunity is being offered free of charge, but the organizers have asked that anyone who is interested should preregister, as this will aid them in planning the event. It will be taking place in the Explorations V Children's Museum, which is located at 109 North Kentucky Avenue in Lakeland. The UF/IFAS website includes more information about the morning and how to sign up to take part.
