Those who call Plant City home and who would like to increase their knowledge of some simple steps they can take to show the Earth some love can do so when they participate in workshops being offered this June.
Three different classes have been planned, and they will each focus on a topic related to sustainable living. Along with the information provided, the participants in each of the sessions will receive an item that they can put to use in their own household, and the registration fee for each is $5.
The first workshop will explore a variety of techniques that can be used to compost food waste and other scraps, and at the end of this event, the participants will be given a thermometer, compost bucket, and bin. The next session will address the topic of microirrigation. In this, the group will find out how they can have beautiful yard that requires minimal watering. The learners in this event will receive a microirrigation kit. The final seminar will investigate the use of rain barrels, and the giveaway item for this will be a 55-gallon rain barrel made from food grade plastic.
These three sessions are open to residents of HIllsborough County. Manuals, handouts and other learning materials that can help to make sure the participants in these types of events get the most from the session can be prepared by Print shops in the area.
All three workshops will be held on the morning of June 1. They will be offered at 5339 County Road 579 in Seffner.
