Festival celebrates the history of rail travel

Railfest is taking place next month in Plant City, and will be a presentation of the Robert W. Willaford Railroad Museum.

There will be many things going on all day that are sure to appeal to everyone in the family. The kids can take a ride on a scale miniature riding train, enjoy bounce houses, have their faces painted, and receive goodies Bags while supplies last. There will also be lots of games for them to play, and food such as barbecue and hot dogs available for purchase.

Guests can revel in bluegrass musical entertainment, a scale model train exhibit, and giveaways. Craft and antique vendors will also be on hand to sell their merchandise, some of which may be railroad related. In addition, there will be a silent auction for items such as railroad memorabilia and collectibles. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day as well.

The 2nd annual Golden Spike Award will also be handed out. It is likely that this event will attract lots of families from Plant City and surrounding communities. Organizers have likely produced advertising Flyers to promote it.

Railfest will be held at the Union Station Depot at the Robert W. Willaford Railroad Museum on April 2 from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Admission is free of charge. To find out more about this event, contact Benny Lubrano at 813-719-6989.
