The 14th annual Black Heritage Jazz Festival is taking place next month in Plant City for three days. It is a presentation of Plant City Black Heritage Celebration, Inc.
The theme of this year’s festival is “Empowering Black America”. There is a wide variety of events planned over the three days. The first will be a banquet on February 10 at the Trinkle Center at Hillsborough Community College beginning at 6:00 PM. It will feature keynote speaker Frank Murphy and musical entertainment from Alkoya Brunson as well as other local talent. Tickets are $35 each.
Other events include a youth summit, a battle of the bands, the Jazz in the Park celebration and a gospel concert. There will also be a parade, artist’s displays and the chance for visitors to sample a variety of soul and ethnic foods. Vendors may also be on hand.
No doubt families from Plant City and surrounding areas will find something to enjoy during the festival. To spread the word, it is likely that the advertisers will distribute items such as Flyers or Posters all over the community.
The Black Heritage Jazz Festival will be held at the Dr. Martin Luther King Recreation Center from February 11 to 12 from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM each day. Contact Sharon Moody at 813-453-7134 for more information.
