Chili cook off returns early next year

The Chili Cook Off is taking place in Plant City early next month, following the success of the last cook off held in March of this year. The event is presented by the Arts Council of Plant City and helps to promote the culinary arts in the city.

Anyone can enter the competition to claim the honor of having the best chili in the city. There are three categories of competition: mild, spicy, and novelty, and prizes are awarded for the winner in each category. There is also a People's Choice award. Each participant must provide five quarts of chili that has been cooked at home in advance of the event. The fee to participate was $15 in March, but has yet to be confirmed this time round..

Chocolate will also be available for purchase. There is a fee of $5 for each person who wants to sample the chili.

It is possible that some of the competitors will fancy up their tables with Banners purchased from Plant City Print companies. It may get them more attention and be enough to win a prize.

The Chili Cook Off will be held at the Robert W. Willaford Railroad Museum on January 9 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. To learn more about this event or to compete contact Dodie White at 813-927-0595, Marsha Passmore at 813-245-2244, or Edith Kidde at 904-465-1764.
