Projects in Orlando to seek tourism tax dollars

Several organizations in Orlando are looking to receive close to $300m in tax dollars coming to Central Florida.

According to Fox35Orlando.com, Florida Citrus Sports wants some of those funds to finish Camping World Stadium. Just before the pandemic, the stadium, which seats 65,000 people, did receive millions of dollars for renovations, but it still needs about $800m to complete the project. The work consists of erecting a canopy, adding 100,000 square feet of multipurpose community space, and removing and rebuilding the upper terrace decks of the stadium.

The Orlando Baseball Dreamers team is looking to bring Major League Baseball to Central Florida. The team would be called the Orlando Dreamers and needs a stadium that is expected to cost $1.7bn. The design for the stadium is a baseball complex unlike any other stadium built to date.

Dr. Patrick Rishe, Sports Business Director at Washington University in St. Louis, commented that the best facilities attract the best events, which in turn bring additional exposure to a city. He added that it is important to consider the economics and the cost-benefit analysis. Attention can be directed to such projects and their benefits with flyer printing services.

The Tax Citizen Advisory Task Force of Orange County Tourist Development will be reviewing the applications for funding and will forward its recommendations to the Orange County Commission.
