What's Happening in Orlando, FL…

Major corridor in Orlando undergoes roadway improvements

Major infrastructure upgrades will be undertaken by the city of Orlando and Gibbs and Register, its contractor, along Delaney Avenue.

The upgrades will take place for about one mile from Briercliff Drive to Michigan Street on Delaney Avenue and include sidewalk, roadway, potable water, and sanitary sewer systems.

There will be four phases to this project to ensure minimal disruption to daily life and that progress is seamless.

Spreading the word about such road improvements can be handled by local print shops with posters, flyers, and other printed materials.

The part of Delaney Avenue from Briercliff Drive to just south of the rotary at Miller Street will be made of brick. The rest of Delaney Avenue will have a new asphalt roadway to enhance the driving experience. There will be wider sidewalks along the east side of the street to improve accessibility and safety for pedestrians. Grant and Miller Streets will each have their rotaries replaced. The landscape islands will be removed, and speed tables will be added to calm traffic.

There will also be the construction of new gutters and curbs to improve the efficiency of the drainage of stormwater to the city’s storm drain system. In addition, the sewer systems will be upgraded for increased reliability and efficiency and to mitigate the risk of floods.

This work is expected to be completed by this winter.
