Local visual artists are being sought by the city of Orlando to display their work in celebration of Black History Month. This exhibition will be at Orlando City Hall in the Terrace Gallery.
The theme for this year is “African Americans and the Arts.” This will be an opportunity for local artists to celebrate the many contributions of African Americans on the performing and visual arts, film, literature, theater, and cultural movements. Also a showcase of African American history, this exhibit will be one the many events on in the city during Black History Month early next year.
Flyer printing is often used to spread the word about such exhibits throughout a city, and to garner more submissions and applications.
Artists interested in putting a submission forward need to submit photographs of a minimum of five pieces of their artwork, preferably related to African American culture and experience. Each piece of artwork needs to have a description and the name of the artist, a title, year created, and medium, and should be accompanied by a biography or résumé, email, and telephone number.
All submissions need to be made to the Office of Multicultural Affairs by Sunday, January 7. The exhibit will run from Friday, February 2 through Sunday, March 31. Artists whose work is selected for this exhibit will be notified by email.
