Immersive art exhibit set for Orlando

An immersive experience based on the work of artist Vincent van Gogh will open in Orlando this February.

The installation, simply called the Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit, is created by Massimiliano Siccardi, an installation artist from Italy, and uses animated projections to cast the entire space in van Gogh’s images. The exhibit includes famous works by the Dutch artist like Starry Night, Sunflowers, and The Potato Eaters. Music by Luca Longobardi has been composed to accompany the experience. All in all, the exhibit includes over 500,000 cubic feet of projections and 60,000 frames of video, designed to allow audiences to better observe the details of van Gogh’s work.

The Orlando exhibit is part of an international tour that has included runs in Toronto, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, based on an initial launch in Paris that claimed over two million visitors. The Van Gogh Exhibit was meant to debut in Orlando on October 6, but was delayed in order to “make artistic improvements to the functionality of the projections.” Immersive experiences like this, often marketed through eye-catching images on social media and flyer printing, have become a popular attraction as tourists and art lovers are increasingly interested in unique experiences.

The exhibit is now scheduled to open on November 26 at the West Concourse of the Orange County Convention Center.
