What's Happening in Orlando, FL…

Application period open for Orlando mayors academy

Applications are now being accepted for the Mayor’s City Academy (MCA) for this year in Orlando.

There is no charge to be part of the MCA, and it is a civic engagement program lasting 12 weeks that offers residents an inside view of the city government. The program accepts 60 people who will tour various facilities in the city such, as the Fire Station One, Water Conserv II, and the Camping World Stadium. They will also have the chance to meet those who ensure the city is always operating, including those who shape the policies that impact daily life and those who inspect sanitary sewer lines, helping them become experts in city operations.

Volunteer opportunities will also be discussed, so attendees can learn about the many resources and programs available to city residents and make a difference in the city. There will also be networking opportunities to afford engagement with like-minded residents.

Dinner will be provided each week during the academy. At the end of the program, attendees will receive a certificate and have their picture taken with Mayor Buddy Dyer.

Such unique educational opportunities and further details about topics covered in each session are often provided with flyer printing.

Applications for the MCA are due next Friday, June 27. The MCA will run from Thursday, August 21 through Thursday, November 6 and will be from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
