What's Happening in Orlando, FL…

Salty Donut to open Orlando location

It may not sound like a natural flavor combination to some, but the acclaimed Salty Donut will be opening its newest location in Orlando this fall.

The chain has locations in Dallas and Miami and is known for its gourmet take on the classic donut. Its flavours span the palette, including combinations like guava and cheese, or maple and bacon, with some donuts including adult touches like bourbon or rum. Despite the name, Salty Donut still has plenty of sweet offerings, including its traditional glazed varieties and ones based off desserts like peach cobbler or citrus cake. The shop also offers brewed drinks such as coffee, espresso, and "spirit" tea.

Salty Donut's three established locations typically offer a stable of constant donuts, like its hazelnut and chocolate combination, and a rotation of flavours based on season, availability, and inspiration, offering a constantly-changing menu. Bakeries offering gourmet or "elevated" versions of donuts and other treats have boomed in popularity recently, often advertising with appealing flyer printing and promotional products, as well as photo-friendly products that could go viral on social media. Salty Donut was listed on Thrillist's list of the top 31 donut shops in America, suggesting the growing interest.

The Orlando location of Salty Donut will be located in Audobon Park on Corrine Drive, with an autumn opening date to be announced.
