This February, Orlando will play host to a touring comedy “festival” headlined by Mike Epps. The event brings together stars known for appearances in African American-focused comedy films, television, and live events.
The Fabulously Funny Comedy Festival will be visiting over 30 cities across the country, with each date featuring Epps and a variety of supporting comedians. Epps is perhaps best known as an actor, appearing in movie series like The Hangover, Friday, and Resident Evil, but his roots are in stand-up, getting his big break on the Def Comedy Jam tour in 1995. His comedy is known for blending black humor, satire, and observational jokes.
Epps will be supported in Orlando by fellow Def Jam and Friday alumni Sommore; Gary Owen, who starred in an eponymous show on BET; and Lavell Crawford, a former Last Comic Standing finalist best known for playing the laconic enforcer Huell Babineaux on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Local comedy events like this, typically advertised through poster printing and brochure printing, often feature screen stars past and present in a different, more intimate setting.
The Orlando stop of the Fabulously Funny Comedy Festival will take place on February 8 at the Addition Financial Arena. The tour kicked off in Jacksonville on January 17, and will also visit Tampa on February 7 before concluding in Washington, D.C. on May 8.
