Rail set-up gets on track in Orlando
A new commuter rail system is scheduled to open at the beginning of May that will run through downtown Orlando, making it the first new system of railroads in three years to open in the United States.
Most likely flyer printing is being used to announce this new system, with additional information and the schedule of trains.
According to the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), there has been an increase in the number of people using public transportation in recent years, as investments by states and local communities have been made in order to attract new workers and businesses in downtown areas.
The new system, known as SunRail, will traverse through the eastern side of central Florida in a north-south direction, with the midpoint being downtown Orlando. Two large hospitals and medical complexes in Orlando, several suburbs, and the Amway Arana will be some of the stops of the rail line.
The mayor of Orlando, Buddy Dyer, commented that SunRail is aiming to change the patterns of growth in the area from the sprawl of the suburbs to the urban environments that are becoming more walkable and gaining in popularity. The Florida Department of Transportation added that its statistics show that $1.7m in development has been completed within a 10-minute walk of a commuter rail station since SunRail was funded.
