Excellence award given to nursing college in Orlando

A third global honor for excellence has been awarded to the College of Nursing of the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando.

Announcements of such awards are often made known throughout a community with flyer printing and additional Posters or Banners.

The Association of Standardized Patient Educators (ASPE) has given full accreditation in human simulation for its Simulation, Technology, Innovation and Modeling (STIM) Center. This is the highest honor that the organization awards and recognizes the adherence to the standards of an organization to best practices to ensure integrity, growth, and safe application of education practices based on human simulation. UCF is the only program in Florida in the inaugural accreditation cohort of the ASPE and one of 19 simulation centers around the world.

The STIM Center of UCF provides more than 12,000 contact hours based on simulation to undergraduate and graduate students using high-technology manikins, virtual and augmented reality applications, and technologies using holograms. It seeks to innovate in the field and is running a pilot program using artificial intelligence with simulation in nursing programs.

This fall the STIM Center will expand its footprint with a new space on the Academic Health Sciences Campus in Lake Nona in the Dr. Phillips Nursing Pavilion. Featured at the new STIM Center will be a clinical skills exam suite, state-of-the-art simulated patient suites, and dedicated space for virtual reality and immersive research.
