Orlando prepares for chill in 2020

Sea World Orlando has announced it will open a new roller coaster next year called “Ice Breaker”. The roller coaster will be one of only a few in the country that go both forwards and backwards.

Among other unique qualities, the roller coaster will be built low to the ground. Some roller coaster enthusiasts say riding only a few feet above the ground gives the illusion of going much faster. Ice Breaker will run at speeds up to 52 mph over a duration of 90 seconds per trip.

Other theme parks in Florida will be opening new rides soon as well. This includes Adventure Island which is building a new waterslide and Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay is constructing a new hybrid coaster, Gwazi, which will open in the spring. Theme parks often use printing services to obtain materials announcing when new rides will be open to the public.

Ice Breaker will launch riders backwards from just over 90 feet and continue to run backwards and forwards throughout the ride. The ride is billed as family friendly but it will have a minimum height requirement of 48 inches for riders. This is lower than the 54 inches some other roller coasters in the area require.

The bright orange coaster has 2,750 feet of track and is being built by Premier Rides which is based out of Baltimore. Construction is on schedule with concrete poured and underground wiring and utilities completed. The ride is expected to open in the spring of 2020.
