Orlando employment on the rise
The latest job reports in Florida are showing that Orlando is the number one city in job creation over the past year, and top in the country for companies that are hiring.
This news bodes well for businesses involved in printing premium business cards, as many people will need them when they start their new jobs here.
Governor Rick Scott, at a personal appearance on March 14 at Orion Technologies based in Orlando, announced that close to 54,000 jobs were created in the city during the past 12 months, while Tampa was right behind with the creation of just over 44,000 jobs.
He added that the Orlando area has the second highest demand for jobs in the state. In January, according to the state Department of Economic Opportunity, there were close to 34,000 openings, 9,766 of which were in the area of science, technology, engineering, and math.
Other industries with the greatest gains in jobs over the year in the Orlando area were business and professional services; hospitality and leisure; and trade, transportation, and utilities. Sanford and Kissimmee are included in the metropolitan Orlando area, where the total work force grew by 30,900 people over the past 12 months.
As part of the Governor’s ‘Million, Billion Jobs Victory Tour’, he is traveling the state with claims that one million jobs have been created in Florida over the past five years, and $1bn has been cut in taxes.
