New downtown campus to combine two colleges

Valencia College (formerly known as Valencia Community College) and the University of Central Florida will join forces at a new location in downtown Orlando. The construction of the campus is nearing completion and will be located at the site of the former Amway Arena.

The campus will encompass 15 acres near Livingston and Hughes Avenues and will consist of several buildings. The main building will have classrooms, a library, and group work spaces. All areas will be shared by the two colleges and open two students who are enrolled in either one of them.

With an expected enrollment of approximately 6,000 students, the new campus will feature state-of-the-art technology for connecting electronic devices in a wireless environment, allowing documents to be shared among instructors and fellow students. Educational institutes can use local Print shops to obtain Graphic Design Services to enhance aesthetics of new campuses.

Also being built on the site is a 15-story tower, which will be used for housing students and will provide areas for academic services. Retail space is planned for the bottom floor of the tower. Where many local communities advertise they are a “live, work, play” community, this site is coined as a “live, start and graduate here” campus.

With both colleges experiencing growth pains in the Central Florida area, the new campus will provide the ability to enroll more students in several programs currently at capacity. The new campus is scheduled to open in time for the Fall 2019 semester.
