What's Happening in Orlando, FL…

With Halloween on the horizon, Orlando will be the location of a unique scary attraction called The Haunted Road.

The attraction is an outdoor, drive-through version of the traditional haunted house. It will convey a narrative based on a dark version of the classic Rapunzel narrative. Participants will travel through a variety of areas meant to scare and startle. Each area will include a piece of the story narrated through visual effects, props, live actors, and sound broadcast through car speakers. The unusual spectacle may be a sign of things to come as traditional Halloween celebrations, often advertised through tools like poster printing, adjust to the age of social distancing.

The Haunted Road is largely intended for visitors thirteen years or older, but offers versions tailored to other audiences. A kid-friendly version, with music and dance as well as lighter spooks, will be available on select weekends. An “unrestricted” version for people 18 or older will take place on the final weekend. There will also be a “Beyond the Road” package which includes both daytime and nighttime events, a priority viewing location, and other perks.

The Haunted Road will be open on select nights between September 25 and November 7, at a location on Lake Pickett Road near Corn Maze Orlando and Painted Oaks Academy. Participants are required to sign up in advance.
